General Discussion :: Locallife Lewisham - free links for community websites

Dear Members,

I have just discovered Lewisham Online (rather oddly/surprisingly as my own company happens to be called Lewisham On Line) and recognised that I may be able to help some of the users publicise their community websites through my local community-based commerical website, Lewisham Locallife, which is part of Locallife.co.uk.

Locallife.co.uk is a network of 324 local Internet directories that collectively form the UK’s largest provider of local information and online data content, satisfying the needs of local residents and visitors alike. By profiling every local business, organisation & amenity in their relevant location and category, Locallife is becoming the first port of call for local information for everyone introduced to the site.

Locallife.co.uk receives 100 million page impressions per annum increasing month on month. It is one of the largest providers of local information to search engines such as Google & Yahoo and is the highest ranked UK local search directory (source ranking.com). Every Locallife search provides 100% targeted information and only information specifically related to the searched area and subject category are returned. The growth of Locallife.co.uk is quickly creating the most well-known and used local search facility in the country.

Locallife gives free space to community and non-profit organisations, including providing free links to existing websites and offers an at-cost web-building service for non-profit organsiations such as hospitals, schools and charity or community groups. I am in the process of updating the non-profit entries and would be happy to hear from any Lewisham Online members who would like to link their website into Lewisham Locallife or find out more about the at-cost web-building service. You can find Lewisham Locallife at www.Locallife.co.uk/lewisham
I look forward to being able to help support the local groups represented here.

Best wishes,
Sian McLean

Hello

Does anyone have any recollections of the Hodder family of 1 Carlton Terrace Sydenham? There were Charles (1861-1936) and Rebecca (1862-1946) and children Frederick George (b1889), Charles Alfred (1892-1953, married Phoebe Crick), Florence (1887-1963, married Harry Foyster), Rosie (b1897, married Ernest Jacobs, went to live in Shanghai), Cecil Percy (b1904, married Laura Rumsby) and Leslie Albert (b1904, married Florence Scroby). At one stage they had a newsagent's on Wells Road and a greengrocer's on Dartmouth Road.

Charles Alfred was my greatgrandfather. I never met any of his siblings or their descendants and would like to fill in some more bits of the family history.

Thanks and best wishes

Dear All - This isn't based in Lewisham but it covers all Lewisham residents, does that qualify! Anyway it's a new site which allows local residents in the uk to report incidents to the council. Looks good and uses a Google map. I posted an incident and got emails back from the council. Well worth a look
